What is a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy?
In a Chapter 13 bankruptcy, you are bringing your debt payments to a more manageable level and keeping your major assets in the process. When you file, you can expect that:
- Creditor harassment will end. A Chapter 13 bankruptcy will immediately stop intrusive phone calls from creditors, wage garnishment and any lawsuits against you.
- A new payment plan will be established. We will set up a new, more manageable debt payment plan, the nature of which will be determined by your income, assets and expenses.
- Repayment of creditors will last for 3-5 years. The length of the plan depends on many factors including the amount of debt you have as well as your income.
- Remaining debts will be discharged. Once you have completed your plan, all of your unsecured debts that are left over will be discharged.
